BRUSSELS, Jan 19 (Reuters) – Bulgaria is expected on Tuesday to withdraw Foreign Minister Rumiana Jeleva as its candidate to be in the next European Commission, sources in the European Union executive and the European Parliament said.
Parliamentarians raised questions about her qualifications and business background after a hearing last week in the assembly’s development committee. Withdrawing her candidacy should help the Commission win an approval vote in the parliament on Jan. 26.
